Shangri-La image was an interesting project. It was originally a birthday invitation card for my friend Luis. He asked for an invitation so I needed some insperation. I found it when I realized that when Luis would answer the phone he would say "Shangri-La". I felt that was very unique and then developed a design. It has been a few years and I am still pleased with the design but little puzzled about why I feel it is successful. Currently I am working on a second image in the same style as the Shangri-La but it is a work in progress.
There is still work being done on the Shangri-La design so it will not be so invitation like. I would like to paint it some day once I get the image completed .
I have this neighbor who is in 7th grade. She is the coolest 7th grader ever. Margaret and I thought it would be a nice gift for Xmas that we would make her 2 complilation cds. One with classic punk songs which Margaret is very knowledgeable on and the other with modern "alternative" music or simply things I like.
The image that you see to the left is an image taken from a the white trash party that Margaret and I went to at the end of 04.
The Primal Splurge logo designs were fun to do. Even-though the client chose a different style, I was able to be more adventureis with my design being inspired by toys and old rave flyers.
Along with the main icon, I also created a text display that incorporated the purse which helped connect the two images. It also leads to other uses for labels and t-shirts.
